Haas Petroleum

HAAS PETROLEUM

Haas Petroleum’s roots began with John Haas in 1935. He continued this successful spirit when he officially formed Haas Oil in 1955. He was later inducted into the Kansas Oil Producer's Hall of Fame for his vast contributions to the state’s oil industry.

Both of John's sons, Gary and Mark, became active in the oil industry. They learned the fundamentals of Kansas oil production and geology from their father, who is still active in the industry and consults on a regular basis.

While Gary Haas formed the Gary Haas Oil Company, Mark carried on the legacy of Haas Oil with the formation of Haas Oil in 1974. This was later renamed Haas Petroleum in 2004. Today, Mark Haas' son, John, continues to be active with Haas Petroleum, and is the fourth Haas generation to work in the industry.

Since its formation, Haas Petroleum has grown from being a small producer to becoming one of the top 60 oil producers in the state of Kansas. To date, Haas Petroleum has produced over one million barrels of oil and is licensed to operate in both Kansas and Oklahoma, and is currently expanding its operations to Texas.

Haas Petroleum employs a total of 25 full-time workers in its operations, which is headquartered in its Gridley Field Office. These operations are wholly supervised by Randy Bishop, who has been a vital part of Haas Petroleum for over 25 years.

Haas Petroleum has hired David Griffin, University of Kansas graduate, as head geologist. His primary job is the evaluation of new acquistions, mapping, and drilling sites infield.

2009 Developments

In the summer of 2009, Haas Petroleum filed to get an operator's license in Texas. Additionally, Haas Petroleum aquired 1/3 interest in a 1,287 acre lease. This lease contains 3 wells and 2 zones with extensive drillables in Corsicana County.

A second operator from Colorado and Haas Petroleum are in talks to take over opations in Colorado. Mark Haas states "I'm very excited about all these new developments and also moving into the Butler County KS of which we just leased some acreage to develop an Arbuckle and Simpson zone, we have identified 2 current locations and plan to begin drilling in the next few months."
